Concerts and festivals
As I have said before music is a huge part of my life, both playing it and listening to it. But over the years I have seen many bands, some good, some less though. But my enjoyment never ceases. The ability of people to stand and play instruments live to generate music is something which I always admire.
In years gone by, in other words before smartphones and with, shall we say, less clear recollection, I watched many concerts which I will not detail here, but some of the acts I've seen prior to 2008 include
Oasis - (numerous times including once watched through an open fire exit door in Birmingham in 1997)Happy Mondays - great live band and absolutely off their rockersDoves - talented musicians who gave a great showCharlatans - under rated pioneers of Brit pop who get repeatedly overlookedOcean Colour Scene - great band, even better liveCast - another great band, my god 90's music was good!!Black rebel motor cycle - I think I missed the memo on this as I didn't get itPaul McCartney - when he played Beatles songs live in many years, its the beatles, by a beatle, of course it was greatEric Clapton - in my opinion when body work and different styles considered, the greatest guitarist of them all, heavenGreen Day - good show, from what I remember!!Goldie looking chain - it was lunchtime, at a festival, let's move onDropkick Murphy's - didn't know who they were when I watched them at Reading, blown away, electric frickin bagpipes!!!!Juliette and the licks - not for me thanks, but still entertainingArcade Fire - trying too hard for me, just play the music, no need to use a crash helmet for percussion!!Subways - loved their one song, still play it in the car, was time filling at a festival and wasn't displeasedPixies - I'll give this one a miss thanks!!Baby shambles - great energy, good show, average tunes and a circus show of a frontman, (at this time!)Kasabian - another that I've never really got I think, great musicians, good show, didn't do it for me though, sorry just an opinionKings of Leon - good old fashioned rock and roll, hipsters before it cool , enjoyed themKillers - Great songs, good show, good time, 'nuff saidIron Maiden - always keep an open mind, lets move onMarilyn Manson - I like him music, his stage show was different, his fans are a sight to behold
Neil Diamond - 10th June 2008 - National Indoor Arena Birmingham -
Who doesn't love Neil Diamond, he always been my guilty pleasure, and I won't expand on my family connection. My then fiancee thought I was joking when I told her how much I loved him, er no, I don't joke about the diamond!! So as a birthday treat she got us tickets to see him. I would say we were comfortably the youngest in the crowd by decades, but that doesn't stop you enjoying songs like I'm a believer (yes the monkees song, which he wrote), coming to America, forever in blue jeans and of course the epic Sweet Caroline (ba ba ba).
I loved this concert and even the soon to be Mrs T enjoyed herself and was up boogieing by the end
