Ewans 2010 Concerts

Them Crooked Vulture - 11th June 2010 - Donnington

This is another which was not the main act, but was very good indeed.  What's not to love, the greatest rock drummer of the last 25 years (who doesn't even play drums anymore!!) Led Zeppelins percussion section, and a bad ass lead singer who is well known for just wanting to fight!

This was a short lived dream project put together by Dave Grohl to be able to fulfil an ambition of working with John Paul Jones.

Their short set was never going to epic as they have 1 album worth of material, but its still rewarding some of the best musicians in the world doing their thing, this was short, sweet and nice, and the sun was out in a great setting.  Also everyone knew what was coming next!!!!

AC/DC - 11th June 2010 - Donnington

I said previously that ZZ top was one of favourite bands, when it come to "acca dacca" there is no question, they are my favourite.  In my view the title of greatest rock band ever is to be fought out between them and the stones, (before anyone has a heart attack the Beatles are the greatest band ever, but were only ever really a rock and roll band at best for 3 years between 1963 and 1966 this is not long enough in my view to take this title, same as Led Zeppelin, longevity counts, ask any woman!!).  This was to be a special event, it was the 30th anniversary of Back in Black, and of Brian Johnson joining the group, it was also my 30th birthday.

The energy of Angus Young on stage is something to behold, Brian Johnson running about the stage as a screaming 63 year old defies age.

All the hits were there and it was pleasing and satisfying.

But now I am going to prove that I can be objective, every song doesn't have to finish in a 4 minute Angus Young solo running through pentatonic scales on fast forward, play the song let the crowd sing and move on.  It doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the show or the band, but a crowd lose their interest in these bits and it shows.

Still my favourite though!!!

P!nk - 24th June 2010 - Ricoh Arena Coventry

These tickets were an anniversary present to my wife, P!nk is not my choice.  But even pop songs, played with a live band are great to watch.  Confession time, I knew more of the songs than I thought.  Also Miss Moore puts on a hell of a show and involves the crowd along the way as well.

I had a great time at this, and earned some brownie points as well, good time had all round.  Keep it quiet, but I would watch her again ssshhhhh!!
